Junior Gunners boast a solid attack
The South West wild winter weather held off at the weekend for the region’s junior soccer stars to battle it out in an open and free-flowing game.
Taking place at Barnard Park, Busselton Gunners were accessing the attacking wings regularly as a pathway to goals, while the Dunsborough Hustlers’ defence held strong, providing great coverage for their team and counter-attacking well on transition.
Both styles of play held steadfast as the sides came into the half-time huddles with the match in the balance.
Coming into the second half, the Gunners’ run and quick ball movements began to pay off inching them into the forward position.
The Hustlers’ goalkeeper made several great saves before the Gunners’ strik-ers eventually hit their mark.
The fast-paced action and quick goal tally helped their side in a well-fought victory late in the game.
Hustlers had their fair share of chances and were gallant in their efforts, and no doubt they will look to reverse the result next time they play each other at their home ground later in the year.
The up-and-coming Gunners’ continued improvement will be one to keep an eye on as the season progresses in the 13s competition.
