There is something special in becoming a supermarket regular, to be greeted by name and with a smile, snap up produce from local growers and know the retailer is providing jobs for your community.

Coles Busselton Central Store Manager Melissa Smith can attest to this.

After working with Coles across the South West for 13 years, she is excited to be heading up its newest, market-style supermarket which she says will tick all of these boxes for shoppers.

“The South West has a fantastic community vibe and we’re looking forward to being a part of that,” Ms Smith said.

“Our team members are keen to be involved in the community and help out where we can.

“We’re so proud to be able to help Busselton’s young people by supporting Geographe Primary School’s Breakfast Club, but the good deeds certainly won’t stop there.”

The store has created 83 new local jobs, five of which belong to people joining the workforce for the first time.

With a focus on stocking WA produce in a fresh, market-style layout, this will not be your typical Coles experience.

“We are especially excited to offer locals an extensive in-store bakery stocking bread freshly baked onsite that can be sliced on demand,” Ms Smith said.

“We’ll also have a thriving deli and seafood department stocking plenty of fresh WA product, including Cone Bay Barramundi.

“Retail is an important source of jobs in Busselton and surrounding suburbs, so we’re delighted to be creating so many jobs for the area.

“We have a range of young people entering the workforce for the first time, as well as those who are more experienced like our bakers, butchers and cheese connoisseurs.”

Customers will also have the option of shopping using Click&Collect, allowing them to order their groceries online then pick them up from the store’s service desk.

But if being able to browse the aisles on a Sunday afternoon is more your thing – or frantically grab a missed dinner ingredient after work - the store will have 11 manned checkout lanes and 10 assisted checkouts.

Coles at Busselton Central is located at 30 Kent Street, Busselton and will open from 8am to 9pm Monday to Sunday.
