Busselton Magpies’ Bailey Coshott kicked 11 goals for the colts in their 94-point win over Carey Park on Saturday.

Coshott now has 72 goals for the season from 10 games, the most since goal-kicking records were maintained from 2004.

Busselton sit top of the Colts ladder with 13 wins and one loss and a lofty percentage of 529.48.

However, last year’s premiers Bunbury are also 13 wins and one loss but are 70.10 percentage points below.

Coshott is averaging 7.2 goals per game, and with four games of the qualifying season to go plus finals, he could kick more than 100 goals for the season.

Coshott said he realised he was in for a big day when he’d kicked four goals half way through the first quarter.

“I couldn’t ask for a better team really — they’re a good bunch of blokes and we’re trying to improve our pressure and kick-in structure,” he said.

The full-forward said set shots were his favourite part of the game but the main aim was for the team to avenge last year’s grand final loss and win the 2019 Colts Premiership.

“The toughest opposition I’ve faced so far this year would have to be Margaret River but I haven’t played Bunbury Bulldogs yet,” he said.

“We’ve got three tough games coming in South Bunbury, Bunbury and Margaret River so if we can win those then that will leave us on top for finals.”
