Veteran runner Dean Menzies returned to the Sunsmart Busselton Half Marathon to take back-to-back victories last Saturday.

It was an exciting morning with a buzz of anticipation building as athletes arrived early to the annual event along Busselton Foreshore.

Menzies won with an incredible time of 1hr 6min. 54sec.

Nera Jareb, pictured, also continued her outstanding form to win the women’s half marathon in a time of 1:15:18.

More than than 1500 people took part, running the flat course in perfect weather conditions.

Seasoned athletes were hoping for a personal best, while those taking part for the first time were setting their sights on completing the 21km event.

Competitors travelled from across WA to take part, including two athletes from Busselton’s sister city Sugio in Japan.

Event ambassador and Paralympian Brant Garvey inspired competitors before and after the event.
