A 36-year-old man pleaded guilty in Busselton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to two charges relating to a methamphetamine-fuelled crash on Bussell Highway which killed a 20-year-old man and injured his 22-year-old female passenger.

The Singleton man pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving occasioning death under the influence of drugs and one count of dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm under the influence of drugs.

The accused was driving a black Nissan Navara travelling north on Bussell Highway near Layman Road in Yalyalup on September 23 last year when he crossed onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a white Toyota Hilux.

When considering bail, Magistrate Belinda Coleman said Simon was a potential flight risk and had been banned from going within 1km of a domestic or international airport terminal as part of his bail conditions.

Bail was extended with a $10,000 surety.

A sentencing hearing was scheduled for April 29 in the Busselton District Court.
