The Busselton Art Society will unveil a 12m mosaic on Sunday at the Art Geo Cultural Complex.

The mosaic took five months to create with a team of artists working on the project to celebrate the Busselton Art Society’s 60th anniversary.

Society president Dee Cred-aro said the mosaic, situated in the old courthouse precinct, would be unveiled with a series of ink paintings by City of Busselton cultural development officer Jacquie Happ.

“It was a challenge; it took as a while to work out where and what we were doing but when this idea came through, we knew it would be fantastic,” she said. “The mosaic consists of 40 30cm by 30cm squares and only one of our ladies had done mosaicking before, so for the rest of us it was all learn from scratch.”

The 11am event will include a sausage sizzle, with the official unveiling ceremony starting at 11.30am.
