Nominations open for volunteer of the year awards
Nominations are now open for the Busselton-Dunsborough Volunteer of the Year Awards.
Held in conjunction with the City of Busselton, the annual awards aim to recognise the value volunteers add to the community through their time contribution, work skills, life experience, continued support and commitment.
The awards, now in their fourth year, will coincide with National Volunteer Week, held from May 20-26 Making a World of Difference.
Busselton-Dunsborough Volunteer Centre co-ordinator Carl Holroyd said anyone could nominate a volunteer, as long as the volunteer was associated with a not-for-profit organisation and consent was granted.
“Let’s make this year’s awards the best ever, nominate a volunteer now,” he said.
The awards consist of five categories: The Lions Club of Busselton Volunteer with less than three years service award, the Harvey Norman open award, the Geographe Camping and Tackle World seniors award, the Apex youth award and the Rotary tourism and events award.
Prizes total $300 in each category.
Additionally, Vasse MLA Libby Mettam will sponsor a highly recommended award in each of the five award categories.
The awards will be presented at the volunteer awards celebration on May 20 at the City of Busselton’s civic reception room. Nominations close April 5 and nomination forms can be accessed at bdvolunteers. org.au, by emailing volunteercoor dinator@westnet.com.au or by obtaining a hard copy from the centre or sponsors’ establishment.
