Pride marks Lions’ 40th
Members of the Dunsborough Lions Club marked their 40th anniversary reflecting on how they had supported the community over the years.
The past three years have seen the group raise more than $400,000 from shed sales, which they donated to charity. Mal Robinson said he was proud to be a Lions member.
“When you do things out of generosity it makes you feel proud to be a Lion, and that’s what I’ve got out of it in the 13 years I’ve been a member,” he said.
The Lions assist the community in many ways, including the pick-up and delivery of donated goods. Club treasurer Malcolm van Rensburg said he got a lot of satisfaction from contributing to the community.
“Thanks to the generosity of the people of Dunsborough, we can, mainly through our shed operations, sell donated second-hand goods and support so many worthy organisations and people, not just in Dunsborough, but throughout WA,” he said.
Two achievements for the club this year included the donation of a purpose-built vehicle to a Dunsborough resident and the sponsorship of the new Lions Club at Vasse.
