Renowned violinist leads orchestra
The Chamber Orchestra of St George’s College will perform tonight and on Sunday in Dunsborough and Wilyabrup respectively.
The 11 young music students, led by renowned violinist Paul Wright, will feature music by Vivaldi, Mozart, Sibelius and JS Bach.
Wright was born in Adelaide, started violin studies at the age of eight and three years later was awarded a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England.
He has performed with many orchestras including the Australian Chamber Orchestra until his “retirement” in 2015 and he is now, among other things, senior music fellow of University of WA’s St George’s College. The first concert at the St George’s Community Centre will be today at 7pm.
Tickets for adults are $55, under 30s $25 and under-12s free. Tickets are available online at musicatstgeorges.org.au/ bookings.
The second concert will be at the winery Clairault Streicker Estate on Sunday at 6pm.
This will include a welcome drink and a two-course meal for $110.
