Georgiana Molloy Anglican School filmmaking prodigy Poppy Treloar, 17, last week won the Cinesnaps Competition with her short film, Sandbox.

The annual competition invited young, aspiring film-makers from South West schools to create a short film exploring the theme, Suitcase, with seven entries making it to the Cinesnaps Grand Finale.

The Busselton local, pictured, said she was surprised by the result, expecting usual winner Cape Naturaliste College to take the prize.

“It’s a pretty big deal; it’s really awesome. Not only is it another thing to add to my university resume, but it’s also really cool to say that I’ve done this particularly before graduating,” she said.
