Ryan scores four in stunning effort

Busselton Dunsborough Times

CMI Busselton City notched a convincing 4-1 win over Bunbury United in their third-round FFA Cup match at Churchill Park on Friday, March 23.

Played in front of a big crowd, an under-strength Bunbury struggled to contain Busselton striker Martin Ryan, who grabbed all four goals.

City opened the scoring after four minutes when Ryan beat the offside trap and beat goalkeeper Pat Roberts.

Shortly after, Busselton coach Alan Armstrong was forced to rearrange his line-up when captain Brett Colombera suffered a hamstring injury.

Ryan notched his second after 25 minutes from an Alan Dowling corner with a header.

A third goal arrived just before the half-time break when midfielder Ian Feakes slipped a pass to Ryan who scored in a clinical manner.

Bunbury continued to work hard and were finally rewarded with a close-range goal midway through the half.

Later both Dowling and Bunbury defender Ryan Risdon were shown red cards.

Busselton will host National Premier League side Subiaco on Monday.
