Spinner’s double hat-trick
The Margaret River Cricket Association A-grade observed a general bye for the Country Week Cricket competition in Perth, but a record was equalled in B-grade.
St Mary’s B-grade leg-spinner Josh Perks joined rare company when he took a double hat-trick (four wickets in four balls) against Yobs on Barnard Turf.
The feat has been accomplished only once before in the association over 30 years ago.
The four straight wickets were spread over two overs for Perks, who had his last delivery of an over caught at square leg, then the first two balls of his next over caught at long on and mid-off respectively.
Ky Spowart became victim No.4 when he chopped on to the stumps attempting to cut.
The game was a close contest which came down to the last over of the match with Yobs eventually triumphant by just seven runs.
The other B-grade match saw Dunsborough defeat the Margaret River Hawks by four wickets.
The Hawks made 9-169, which Dunsborough chased down with four overs to spare.
