St Mary’s Cricket Club led the race for the Yates Shield for the team with the most points in the regular season of the Busselton Margaret River Cricket Association A-grade competition. Shay Thackrah hit 59 on a tough Barnard Turf wicket to start the Saints off against the Margaret River Hawks.

But the last five wickets fell for 18 to have the Saints all out for 146.

Peter Crimp took 3-39 off 10 overs and miserly Rumesh Silva took 1-16 off 10.

Hawks never got going, with only Shane Joyce passing the teens with 33 as they fell 16 runs short to leave Saints ahead of Yobs in the race for the minor premiership.

Yobs lost to Cowaramup Bulls after Sri Lankan import Kavy de Silva belted 87 including five sixes in consecutive overs to post 172.

The Bulls first win of the season was long overdue after promising performances all year.

Yobs collapsed after Ben Clarke was out for 41.

Yobs look to bounce back in stalwart Nayt Colombera’s 150th A- grade game against Dunsborough while St Mary’s play Cowaramup in the final regular round.

In B-grade Margaret River 7/185 beat St Mary’s 8/173 and Vasse 176 beat Yobs 117.
