Students egged on to discover joy of books
Curiosity, excitement and intrigue were just some of the words expressed last week by students at Busselton Primary School as they celebrated Book Week and the theme “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds”.
Students enjoyed dressing up, story writing, reading and illustration activities which kicked off when five big eggs appeared around the school.
Busselton Primary School principal Jeremy Shepherd said book week was used at the school to promote a love of reading.
City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley surprised students when he appeared to read the book Three to students during recess as part of story time which was held each day.
Mr Henley said he enjoyed witnessing the students’ enthusiasm and imagination.
“It’s a great way to bring children and books together and to highlight the importance of reading,” he said.
The week concluded with a dress-up parade.
