Video plea in suspected homicide

The family of Samuel Darryl Riley, who police suspect was killed at his home in West Busselton on Tuesday, is pleading for people to come forward with information that could help detectives in their investigation.

Police are requesting anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage taken in the area early this week to come forward.

The 31-year-old was found by a carer about 11.45am on Tuesday, October 30 in what police say was a confronting scene.

“Our family is devastated with loss of Sam who will be remembered as a kind, gentle person who would not harm anyone,” Mr Riley’s family said in a short statement today.

“If you have any small piece of information that may help in the investigation please contact the Western Australian Police. At this time we request our privacy as we grieve the loss of Sam”.

Police could not confirm how the man died or the nature of his injuries, but answers are expected from the State pathologist by the end of the week.

The major crime division’s Det-Insp. Christopher Taylor said homicide squad detectives were investigating whether another person was involved.

“Anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage of the area in West Busselton around the time of the incident is urged to provide the vision to police,” he said.

Det-Insp. Taylor said no credible information indicated any threat to the safety of West Busselton residents.

Nearby streets were closed most of Tuesday, but have since reopened. A nearby reserve has been cordoned off.

No weapons have yet been located, but the search continues.
