Work starts in Busselton region to upgrade National Broadband Network fixed wireless system

Works have started on improving internet services in parts of the Busselton region.

The National Broadband Network is continuing improvements of its fixed wireless network in the area in an effort to provide access to faster speeds and extended coverage.

Some homes and small businesses in the area may have their service affected during coming weeks due to upgrade works on the Yallingup East tower.

While the NBN is looking to migrate users over to temporary connections to minimise service interruptions, it has warned there may be times when the tower is taken offline.

NBN Local WA head Naomi Evans said the demand for faster internet was increasing and investment was needed to stay ahead of demand.

“After the tower works are completed, we expect that faster download speeds during the busy period will become available across the NBN Fixed Wireless network,” she said.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience while the work is under way”.

The NBN and Federal Government are contributing $480 million towards upgrades nationally, which are expected to be completed by December.
