Capes soccer stars are among a team of talented youths who have embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, playing in Britain as part of the Be A Pro UK Tour.

Organised by Football Federation South West, 15 players aged between 13 and 16 were selected from across the region to take part in the two-week tour.

After about nine months of training, players travelled to Britain with the chance to train with the Cambridge United Football Club and to play against some formidable opposition including Arsenal, Tottenham, Histon and Nottingham youth sides.

Bunbury-based squad member Elijah Birrell said he felt lucky to have been chosen to represent the South West on the tour.

“We have worked hard for the last year to be selected and train for this trip,” he said.

“Our coaches and squad feel privileged to play teams like Arsenal and Norwich youth sides and we hope to inspire other soccer youth to go after their soccer goals”.
