Supermarket giant Aldi has been forced to recall a popular juice from stores across Australia fearing it could cause serious illness.

The drink in question, PICK’D Cloudy Apple Juice 2L, is sold in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, the ACT and dozens of stores in New South Wales.

The recall was issued because the juice is contaminated with mycotoxin patulin, which Food Standards Australia and New Zealand said “may cause illness if consumed”.

Bottles with the following use by dates are affected: 22/05/2020, 29/05/2020, 17/06/2020, 7/07/2020, 15/07/2020, 27/07/2020, 30/07/2020, 7/08/2020 and 11/08/2020.

All other use by dates are not impacted.

“Customers should not consume this product and return the recalled product to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the standards body said.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

It follows a similar recall of Pure Tassie’s Organic Pure Apple juice ranges, which are also sold in WA, SA, NSW and Victoria, as well as Tasmania and Queensland.
