Coronavirus crisis: Fremantle backpackers test positive for COVID-19 as hostel locked down

Backpackers at a Fremantle Hostel have been told to quarantine after a number of people staying there tested for COVID-19.

The West Australian understands the Old Fire Station backpackers on Phillimore Street was put into lockdown on Friday morning, with police stationed outside.

Some guests at the Sundance backpackers nearby have also been told to get tested and isolate until further direction.

It’s believed 100 people from the hostel attended the event at the Mess Hall, in Perth on Sunday night, which has been listed as an exposure site.
