A man accused of a hit and run involving an elderly pedestrian on NSW's Central Coast is facing more serious charges after the victim died in hospital.

The 87-year-old man was hit while crossing the road in Woy Woy about 8.25am on July 4, leaving him with leg and hip fractures.

The 91-year-old driver of the white Toyota Corolla that hit him left the scene, but was later arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving and not giving way to pedestrian on crossing.

The victim died in hospital on Monday evening, more than three months after the accident.

The driver was on Thursday charged with two additional offences - dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

He is due to appear at Gosford Local Court on November 19.
