Crown Perth casino staff and punters watched as pepper spray was used during a brawl near the roulette tables on Sunday.

Police were called to the venue when the brawl broke out between two groups of people at about 10.30pm.

During the alleged brawl pepper spray was used in the gaming area.

Security staff had the fight under control within two minutes but the area had to be cleaned before patrons were allowed back in.

Witness Josh Smogavec, 19, said the alleged offender also pepper sprayed the security guards.

"I went around the corner and got a mouthful of it and then just started coughing for 10 minutes,” he told Nine News.

“(It) wouldn't stop, my eyes were sore.”

A 39-year-old Gosnells man has been charged with being armed in or near place of public entertainment and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court later this month.

A Crown Perth spokesperson said that as the matter was still under investigation by police they could not comment on the incident.
