Northbridge brawl: Man stabbed with broken glass on James Street

VideoPolice are investigating a stabbing on James Street in Northbridge.

A man has been stabbed and another man glassed during a brawl in Northbridge early Friday morning.

Police say the brawl broke out just after midnight when two groups of men passed each other on James Street.

During the brawl a 22-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen with a glass bottle while a 28-year-old man was struck in the face with a bottle.

Both men remain in Royal Perth Hospital.

Three other men involved in the brawl were also taken to RPH but have since been released.

Police are also investigating a separate assault after a 38-year-old man was found unconscious on James Street at 2.15am.

The officers who found him believe he was assaulted inside a nearby venue by a group of three men.

This morning’s incidents are the latest assaults to have occurred in Northbridge in recent weeks, and it comes as The West Australian aims to shine a light on Perth’s recent scourge of theft and violence.

Paramount nightclub manager Giuseppe Raco died after being punched in Northbridge last month.

Jaylen Denny Dimer, 26, is accused of striking the 40-year-old father of one during an altercation outside a kebab shop in the early hours of July 4.

Mr Dimer was initially charged with grievous bodily harm but that charge was recently upgraded to unlawful assault causing death.

On Saturday 19-year-old Jacob Knuckey was coward punched without warning at the Perth Cultural Centre.

The force of the punch from behind broke Mr Knuckey’s jaw in two places.
