Arson Squad detectives are combing through what’s left of a popular southern suburbs electronics store gutted by fire overnight.

Explosions were heard and thick black smoke seen from kilometres away after Nix Fix Electronics on Rockingham Road, Hamilton Hill, went up in flames about 9.15pm on Wednesday.

Firefighters arrived shortly before 9.20pm but had to call in extra resources to tackle the fierce flames.

Fire crews from Fremantle, Success, Murdoch, Canning Vale and Perth attended, with the damage bill estimated at $600,000.

“The sound woke our whole family up,” one local resident said.

“We could all hear the glass shattering and things exploding,” another said.

Police also attended.
