At least 10 people have been injured in the Spanish resort town of Marbella when an out-of-control car rammed into several sidewalk bar terraces, police say.

A Marbella police officer said the car's driver was arrested and was being given alcohol and drug tests.

The officer declined to provide further details including about the injured people.

Police were treating the case as a car accident, he said.

Various local media reported the driver was a local man aged 30 who was in the car with his parents, while some reports suggested the man was suffering from mental health issues.
