The 2022 GNFL season has already produced some memorable milestones and stand out moments but another milestone was achieved on Saturday as Chapman Valley’s women’s captain Taylah Broadhurst celebrated her 50th game for the club.

Given the women’s league’s relatively short duration, this is an achievement she and the Royals can be proud of.

This sentiment was shared by Chapman Valley president and GNFL expert Grant Woodhams when speaking of the team captain.

“Absolutely and totally devoted club person who works hard on and off the field. She’s widely liked and goes about her footy without any fuss or bother,” he said.

“It is tremendous that she has racked 50 up. She is deserving of higher honours.”

Royals women’s coach Jay Corlett was full of praise for his team captain.

“She was always an obvious choice for captain; she’s always out there, getting the job done,” she said.

“She’s a great role model for the younger girls coming up. It’s rare she ever misses a game or a training session, often staying back to help the newer players.”

The team put in a great performance for Broadhurst’s 50th game, running out emphatic winners over Towns.

The Royals defeated their rivals 40 to 0, setting up an exciting semifinal repeat against Towns in two weeks.
