He’s the man behind the scenes at Geraldton’s FM radio stations, Hit & Triple M. But how much do you know about Jason McCarthy?

How did you come to live in Geraldton and how long have you called it home? I moved here with the folks from Kalgoorlie and have been here 39 years.

What’s your day job and the best thing about it? Station manager for Hit and Triple M Geraldton. I love working with Mid West businesses to help grow their business.

What do you do for fun? Spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy AFL and NBA (watching).

What’s a habit you would most like to break and one you would most like to start? Snacking! And I need to exercise more!

What’s your most embarrassing moment or something you wish you’d never done? I was at a variety show overseas and they wanted a volunteer from the crowd. No one would volunteer and with the audience from all over the world I thought I would represent Australia and got up — long story short, I was left on stage alone and naked by the end. What is even worse, if possible, was that it was a cold night! True story.

If you weren’t in Geraldton, where would you be? I’ve always liked Busselton but would love to live in Japan — the people are beautiful and really make the place.

Who inspires you the most? I’m inspired by anyone who achieves success in their chosen field and enjoys themselves on their journey.

If money was no object, what would you do? Assist in making the quality of life better for as many people as I could.

What’s something that never goes out of style and something that should never be in style in the first place? Manners never goes out of style and vaping should never have been a thing!
