A travelling artist who devotes her time to visiting remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia is opening her new exhibition, next to her first fashion collection.

A local artist and seamstress have collaborated to create a dream come true in Mullewa. Artist Helen Ansell has opened Floral Fashionista, a collection of artwork and textiles.

Seamstress Julia Foulkes-Taylor of design company Flax and Fleece is showcasing the best of West Australian fine art and textile design alongside Ansell’s artworks to create a new fashion label.

The Mullewa-based artist’s internationally renowned work celebrates Australian landscapes and native fauna and flora, and has been seen in popular magazines including House and Garden, Vogue Living, and Vanity Fair.

Apart from staying at home and working on her paintings, Ansell enjoys visiting unique locations to teach art.
