SWFL: Harvey Bulls move to top of women’s ladder with 57-point win over Carey Park

Harvey Bulls moved to the top of the South West Football League women’s ladder with a 57-point victory over Carey Park at Kelly Park on Sunday.

After starting their season with a victory over local rivals Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault the previous weekend, the Bulls were somewhat wasteful but dominated the Panthers from siren to siren, running out 8.16 (64) to 1.1 (7) victors.

The offensive load was spread in the win, with Caitlin Shales and Rachel Wright’s two-goal performances complemented by singles from Emma Faulkner, Tajah Griffiths, Tahlia Reichelt and Abbey Vidovich.

The undefeated Bulls will head into next weekend’s clash with reigning premiers Bunbury sitting atop the ladder with an imposing percentage of 1211.1.

The weekend was less positive for the league outfit, who suffered a 57-point defeat to Carey Park.

Kurt Haunold’s side are now at the foot of the table following their 14.11 (95) to 5.8 (38) defeat.

The Bulls were at least able to match the Panthers in a five-goal to four second half but headed into the main break trailing by 53 points.

Jordan Strahan booted his first three goals for the club, while his fellow off-season recruits Ryan Lester-Smith and Braden Fimmano also battled hard in defeat.
