A Kalgoorlie-Boulder pharmacy opened the doors to its new building for the first time this week.

As of Monday, Guardian Pharmacy Kalgoorlie is now at what was once the Thingz store in the Woolworths complex, just across the road from the previous Brookman Street building.

Owners Craig Yorke and Brooke Goddard took over the business from Paul Robson in 2011 and said they had seen the industry change since then.

“We were one of the first to get on board with administering flu vaccinations, which has helped take the load off doctors in regional areas like Kalgoorlie,” Mr Yorke said.

Ms Goddard said the new building was smaller and would allow staff to focus on delivering professional services instead of also trying to keep shelves stocked with skincare products, giftware, makeup and other retail items.

“We want to focus more on providing over-the-counter medications and prescriptions rather than trying to compete with other retailers on hair and makeup products or other stock items,” she said.

The pharmacy is now open until 9pm on Thursday and between 9am and 2pm on Sunday.
