A FIFO worker has scored a massive birthday surprise — turning $20 into more than $253,000.

The Mandurah man, in his late 20s, said he was left stunned after discovering he had scooped the division one loot in Super66 — and didn’t believe it until he double-checked with Lotterywest.

“I wondered if it could be true,” he said. “I didn’t sleep that night because I still couldn’t really believe it, so I called on Sunday to make sure it was real.

“The fact it was my birthday the following week made it even harder to believe.”

The young winner, who bought 20 games for $1 each, has a clear plan for the windfall — using it to ease pressure on his mortgage after buying a home just a few years ago.

“I’m still young and know if I’m sensible, this can go a long way,” he said.

But it won’t all be bills, with a Japan trip with his partner also on the cards.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Jennie Fitzhardinge said winning Super66 required matching six numbers in exact order, with the jackpot rolling over if not won.

“Super66 is a jackpotting game and if division one is not won, the prize will increase in the next draw. It is drawn every Saturday,” she said.
