Melissa Caddick’s husband Anthony Koletti doesn’t believe she stole money
The husband of missing fraudster Melissa Caddick has stood by claims he does not believe she stole money from anyone and may have been murdered.
Appearing on Sunrise on Monday morning, Anthony Koletti also doubled down on revelations he feels the corporate watchdog is responsible for Ms Caddick’s death, claiming he had identified “up to 30 people that knew the raid was going to happen before it happened”.
“She was vacant, I didn’t recognise her after they left the house. I blame them ... for her death and disappearance,” the hairdresser said.
Ms Caddick, 49, disappeared from her Dover Heights home early on November 12, 2020, just hours after it was raided by ASIC investigators.
The Federal Court has since been told allegations the mother used a sham investment firm to pocket tens of millions of dollars from trusting investors, including close family and friends.
Her foot was found encased in an Asics running shoe on a beach on NSW’s south coast in February, leading police to end investigations into her disappearance.
The rest of her body has not been recovered and the cause of her believed death is unknown.
Mr Koletti told Sunrise hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch he had “no reason” to talk with his wife after the 14-hour ASIC raid, and despite the evidence presented to him, he can’t fathom that she would steal money.
“I believe all of the information that has been presented to me, but I just don’t believe she was a thief,” he said.
“I don’t believe she stole from anyone.”
When asked about his murder theory, Mr Koletti said he had devised a list of potential suspects.
“A few dishonest people amongst the batch,” he said. “I have been able to identify up to 30 people that knew the raid was going to happen before it happened.
“ASIC clearly took any evidence I had to prove where she went, left or right, they hindered a police investigation not me, so they took all proof with them when they left.”
The Sunrise interview came after Mr Koletti appeared on Channel 7’s The Vanishing on Sunday night, claiming his wife had been killed and he had a “long” list of suspects.
“I don’t believe that she committed suicide. Her love for her son, myself, her family, friends was far beyond that,” he said in the interview.
Mr Koletti also denied any involvement in her death or knowledge about her alleged fraudulent activity.
