Sundays by the Sea brings tunes to the foreshore

The City of Greater Geraldton’s Sundays by the Sea calendar kicked off to great fanfare on the weekend as locals gathered to relax on the Stow Gardens lawn and enjoy the easy going acoustic duo of Carly Markham and Ian Weggler.

Kids ran amok on the playground as families and friends enjoyed snacks and conversation. The Geraldton Multipurpose Centre blocking the wind on a “goldilocks” evening — not too hot, not too cold.

A food van was parked up for those chasing something more substantial, while circus games were put on by the Fusion community organisation.

The duo, performing under the name Stillwater Avenue, brought covers from WA favourites The Waifs and Spacey Jane, as well as classics from Fleetwood Mac, and a beautiful rendition of Neil Young’s Harvest Moon.

Sundays by the Sea will be back every Sunday except the Labour Day weekend on March 6. This Sunday features Aboriginal solo act Born2Sing.
