Police car filmed chasing horse down Ennis Avenue in Port Kennedy

The West Australian
VideoA police car has been filmed chasing a horse to try and get it back to a local training facility on Ennis Avenue in Port Kennedy.

Incredible footage of a police car chasing a runaway horse down the median strip of a major Rockingham road has emerged online.

A police spokesman said officers were called to assist local City of Rockingham rangers after the horse escaped from a nearby training facility.

The footage, on the Bell Tower Times Twitter account, shows a saddled horse galloping down the median strip as traffic flies by on either side.

A police car, with sirens blazing, follows the horse moments later.

The spokesman said police assisted with blocking traffic and stopping the horse.

The incident follows two other dramatic animal escapes in Perth’s southern suburbs over the last two years.

In October, an extraordinary 12-hour operation to rescue a domestic emu, involving police and Native ARC volunteers, was ultimately successful.

Another Kwinana Freeway spectacle took place just before Christmas in 2018 when a sheep ran loose on train tracks along the Kwinana Freeway.

Sadly, that story ended tragically for the sheep, who was shot by authorities.

The City of Rockingham has been contacted for comment on today’s horse escape.
