A 45-year-old Busselton man has been charged after an altercation with another man, 60, who died in hospital yesterday.

Major crime detectives charged the 45-year-old with aggravated grievous bodily harm following investigations into the incident, which took place about 9.15pm on Friday in Maylands.

Police will allege the men, who were known to each other, became involved in an altercation before the 60-year-old was punched and fell to the ground, hitting his head on the bitumen.

The man was taken to hospital with critical injuries, but died on Monday.

The Busselton man was bailed and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on April 19.
