The WA Country Health Service says repairs to ceilings at the Busselton Health Campus will not affect the delivery of any services.

Planned ceiling works near the entrance to Ward 2 and the hospice began last week, but WACHS regional director Kerry Winsor said no wards had been closed because of the works and there had been no impact on clinical service delivery.

Ms Winsor said hospice residents had been moved to Ward 1 while the works were undertaken and the rest of the internal ceiling works were expected to be completed by the end of this month.

South West MLC Adele Farina, who has in the past been vocal on the previous government’s handling of health services, said the community should expect further delays at the campus, with external remedial work to begin after interior repairs. “The extent of the remedial works needed has been extraordinary and certainly not minor as first suggested by the former Barnett government and the WACHS,” she said.

“Assuming the proposed completion date is met, the community would have endured at least 15 months of significant remedial works impacting patients, staff, visitors and service delivery at the hospital — this situation should never have happened.”
