St Mary MacKillop College has earned praise from Catholic Education WA executive director Tim McDonald, who last week visited the school to congratulate students on their “wonderful” Year 12 exam results.

The Busselton college was named in the top 50 schools Statewide for academic achievement based on the exam results of 2016’s Year 12 students and was among just 16 schools across WA to achieve 100 per cent graduation.

After addressing and praising the school for its efforts, Mr McDonald told the Times the stand-out results were a community effort.

“It’s a great credit to the students, their families, and the teachers who supported and nurtured them through any challenges,” he said.

“It takes a whole community to get a great result like this, and a whole community to create great human beings, and these kids really are sensational.”

The school recorded a high median ATAR of 84.65, putting the school on the School Curriculum and Standards Authority First 50 Median ATAR schools list.

Three ATAR courses — Mathematics Applications, Mathematics Methods and Physics — also placed in the top schools list for ATAR courses.
