Choppy waters and cold winds didn’t stop four locals from taking a dip off the end of the Busselton Jetty on Friday morning, with a big crowd cheering on the group’s effort to raise money and awareness for motor neurone disease research.

Jason Cooper, Mark Mitchell sand Boyd Reilly came together with the idea to take the plunge off the jetty ahead of today’s “big freeze” fundraiser for MND in the eastern states, setting about spreading the word and creating a Gofundme page to raise money.

The Huge Splash for MND Awareness has so far raised more than $3500, which will be split between local group Darren’s Ride and FightMND, which is behind the big freeze over east.

Darren’s Ride founder Kirsten Whitby joined the trio on their jump off the end of the jetty on Friday, as supporters watched on in sunny but windy conditions.
