Busselton Jetty Swim organisers are calling on the community to take the plunge and get involved on the event’s committee.

Committee members this week put the call out for others to join and help organise the popular swim event, which will be celebrating its 23rd year in February.

The current committee members have more or less been involved in the race since its inception, but the event’s growth has led to the call for more people to lend a hand.

Committee member Max Higgins said it was a good opportunity for people to get involved in a great community event.

“We’ve grown with (the swim), but we do need extra people to lighten the load,” he said.

Fellow committee member Richard Ford said organisers wanted to keep the swim as a community event.

“It’s a great event that’s been going for more than 20 years and we want to lay the ground for it to go for another 20 years,” he said.

Those willing to help will be skilled in a variety of roles, with positions including social media and marketing, graphic design, volunteer co-ordination, risk management, website maintenance and administration.

Those interested in joining can email secretary@busseltonjettyswim.org.au by June 23 or visit the event’s Facebook page.
