Lesson on sewing bags

Pierra WillixBusselton Dunsborough Times

The Dunsborough Public Library will hold a workshop to teach people how to make their own bags ahead of the Statewide plastic bag ban coming into effect in July.

Librarian Liz Morgan said libraries were increasingly becoming a shared community space and supplying residents with initiatives like this workshop was a way to bring the community in.

The library has already started using recycled bags for customers, and staff are hoping this workshop will discourage the use of plastic bags throughout the community.

Sewing Inspirations owner Anette Leding, who will host the free workshop, said the event was a great way to learn new skills.

The reusable shopping bag workshop will take place on Friday, February 16, from 1pm.

Numbers are limited, so those interested are asked to RSVP to Dunsborough Public Library on 9756 7111.

Participants will need to provide their own materials and sewing machine.
