A Mandurah man is in custody after allegedly leading police on a wild chase down one of the South West’s most dangerous highways on Wednesday afternoon. The pursuit was sparked after officers spotted an allegedly stolen vehicle travelling between Bunbury and Busselton on Bussell Highway. Police say they tried to pull the vehicle over but the 27-year-old alleged driver failed to stop. Officers say they were led on a lengthy car pursuit which ended on Leeuwin Road after the man abandoned his vehicle in an attempt to escape on foot. An alleged short foot chase resulted in the man being arrested and charged with failing to stop for police, reckless driving and stealing a motor vehicle. It is understood the charges join 41 other charges the man will face in Perth Magistrates Court in the coming weeks.
