Geographe Bay Football Club has set its sights on the east coast, sending a side to Cairns for the Masters Games later this month.

The team — which boasts more than 400 years combined life experience — will take part in the games from May 25-28.

The Masters Games feature a seven-a-side soccer tournament for over-40s played on a half-pitch and Geographe Bay hopes to be competitive.

Fundraising for the trip has been ongoing, with more than 30 businesses supporting the team’s quiz night earlier this year and Busselton Pest Control sponsoring the team’s tour shirts.

The masters side is holding two more fundraisers for the trip, with a wood raffle at the southern end of Fig Tree Lane on Saturday, May 20, and a movie night showing King Arthur on Monday, May 22.

Tickets for the movie night are $25 from Geobay Butchering Company on Cook Street, by phoning 0400 108 115, or on the night at Orana Cinemas Busselton at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
