After a stunning end to 2021, Origins Market has continued its success into the new year as it welcomes the highly experienced Pip Close to the helm. A former chief executive of Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, Ms Close succeeds Deon Maas as the general manager of the Australian-first market. Ms Close said she was excited to join the Origins team and make her mark on the unique experience of the markets. “It is clear that much has been achieved at Origins Market since opening and the market has a big future and exciting vision,” she said. “I look forward to bringing my experience to further build on its success.” A familiar face in the South West, Ms Close is known as an influential and decisive leader who has achieved exceptional results in tourism and hospitality entities across the country. In 2019, she returned to the region following nearly three years as chief executive of Tourism Tropical North Queensland and has stood at the helm of local organisations such as MRBTA and Nature Conservation Margaret River Region. Erceg Management Group general manager Michael Di Fulvio said the appointment of Ms Close aims to deliver innovation and growth to the market. “We are confident that in Pip we have found someone who will lead the organisation with innovation to achieve growth,” he said. “Pip brings to Origins Market strong business experience as a dynamic and respected senior leader, most recently monitoring tourism operators and overseeing special projects in the region.” Origins Market opened its doors in November 2021, delivering a unique shopping experience to Busselton showcasing the region’s makers and celebrating fresh produce, local artisan products and gourmet eateries. Ms Close will assume her role as general manager on February 5.
