Rovers slumped to a second defeat in a row on Sunday for just the second time in three seasons as Railways kicked two goals right at the death to take the win at home.

Rovers went into the last quarter with a 16-point lead only to see it reeled in, with the Blues going ahead just before the siren and solidifying their win with effectively the last kick of the game as the umpire blew for an offence after the goal went in.

The score ended 14.9 (93) to 13.3 (81) after Rovers had kicked 10 goals by three-quarter-time, with Jaimon Alone getting four on the day. Mitch Boyle and youngsters Jack Cocking and Noah Cachard each got two for the Blues, with vets James Huggins and Nathan Tubby registering, along with captain Ben Saunders as 10 players got on the scoresheet.

It was the first time Rovers had lost two in a row since 2018 and a first win in five for Railways against Rovers, counting a draw.

Northampton had their eighth-biggest win of all time over Chapman Valley, who had their third-lowest home score. The game ended 14.24 (108) to 3.8 (26).
