The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine just nine days after her husband Prince William.

In an official tweet, the Duchess said, “yesterday I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at London’s Science Museum.”

“I’m hugely grateful to everyone who is playing a part in the rollout — thank you for everything you are doing.”

The UK rollout of the vaccine was extended to over 30s, although it is uncertain as to why the 39-year-old waited when the NHS invited those aged 38 and 39 to have a vaccine on May 12.

The royals are yet to reveal which vaccine she received but being under the age of 40, it is expected she would have either the Pfizer jab or the Moderna.

Prince William was struck down with COVID in April last year and said he “struggled to breathe” while he was battling the disease.
