Perfect conditions prevailed for the two-a-side volleyball grand final on Monday evening.

A-graders Going Crazy and Dinosauchestra had not previously met due to cancellations and the match began with neither team dominant.

As the game progressed, the Crazies established a mini-break of three points, but the Dinos bounced back and levelled the scores.

A time-out called by the Dinos was followed by an exceptional rally which was eventually won by the Crazies, who extended their lead to six points.

A valiant effort by the Dinos enabled them to edge back into the game, but it was the Crazies who were marginally stronger, winning by five points.

Referee Stuart Luff could not separate Crazies’ Renae Bessell and Dale Fowler, hence it was declared a team effort by both combatants.

In the A-Reserve, Set, Sea Mummas took on Summertime to see who would be the top side for the season.

There was very little to separate them until the mid-point, but the Mummas gradually took control and won by 15 points.

Dee Smith was marginally best for the Mummas and the sand on Bec Bacchus’ body showed she threw herself into inspiring Summertime.

On a distant forgotten court an A-Reserve match between Kin Awesome and Soggy, for fifth and sixth, was a blinder, with Awesome winning 46-44.
