Beach life inspires collection

Artist Philip Berrywill bring two months worth of paintings together for his Days at the Beach exhibition at the Old Courthouse on Saturday, March 17.

Berry said his works were produced on location at Busselton beaches.

“I’ve got a few spots I like,” he said.

“I always get people on the beach stop and look — it helps me sometimes getting that objective opinion.”

The oil painter has won several awards at the Busselton Signature of the South West exhibition, Vasse Art Awards, the South West Survey and Capel exhibitions.

Recently moving from Melbourne to Busselton, Berry said he would also include a small collection of work inspired by his time living on the train line in Caulfield. He said his most recent works focused on “more simplicity and less confusion”.

“You get a real feeling of space here which you don’t get in Melbourne,” he said.

“The exhibition is an intro from Melbourne then about two months work here.”

The exhibition opens on Saturday, March 17, from 2pm and opens daily until Tuesday, April 3.
