The Department of Fire and Emergence Services and volunteer bush fire brigades attended a fire in Quindalup this afternoon after a bird hit a power line and caused vegetation below to catch alight.

Western Power immediately shut off the connecting power while brigades attended the fire, which DFES community emergency services manager Blake Moore said covered almost 1ha.

Support was also provided by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions’ Parks and Wildlife service. The power was turned back on as the Times went to print today.
