Busselton Jetty introduces a new flippered friend to the scene with new electric vehicle service

The Busselton Jetty is set to welcome a new addition in the shape of an adorable flippered friend. Launched on Wednesday, the Dolphin Buggy is an electric vehicle that will assist in transporting patrons up and down the jetty during peak visitation periods. The vehicle was almost two years in the making and jetty chief executive Lisa Shreeve said she was looking forward to offering additional services to the public. “The jetty’s red train runs on the hour and we had a number of people who were looking at trips out or back in between these times, in particular elderly people who could not walk the entire way or families with young children,” she said. The Dolphin Buggy will run at peak times on the half hour to give people another option to get out to the end and back in between train trips. Tour guides will give a guided tour on the history of the jetty during the trip. The buggy will also run when demand exceeds train capacity or when special events are on. Ms Shreeve said the public were keen to see the service operating, “Young children love the jetty’s red train but while we have been practising driving the new Dolphin Buggy there have been squeals of delight when children see it,” she said. “We hope it will add to the new activities happening at the jetty each year and help get people out to the end for events, snorkelling, yoga, fishing or new facilities coming up.”
