A Cornerstone Christian College student was hailed by the Dunsborough Zonta Club for her leadership at an awards ceremony at Caves House earlier this month.

Year 12 student and head girl Ashlyn Atkinson, also the school’s house captain for Naphtali, was selected to win the Young Woman in Public Affairs Award last year and was this month hailed as the Outstanding Woman of the Year 2016.

Ashlyn’s commitment and service across a range of areas and her support of local youth activities contributed to the award and the student told theTimes the initial application process had given her a chance to look back at what she had accomplished.

“It helped me reflect on the stuff I’d done the last few years in leadership,” she said.

Ashlyn mentors other students through the Cornerstone Church Core Youth group and is the school’s third winner of the award.
