A Department of Health clearing permit application to remove 238 trees from the Busselton Hospital site attracted 12 public submissions.

The 21-day submission period closed on Monday, although Department of Environment and Conservation’s Belinda Walker said residents would have an opportunity to have their say before a decision was made.

Ms Walker declined to say how many submissions were for or against the application.

She said the department would assess the application against the Environmental Protection Act 1986 which addressed biodiversity values, water quality and land degradation.

DEC aims to make decisions within 60 or 90 days, Ms Walker said.
